Dementia is a general term used to describe a group of symptoms. These include deterioration in memory, and judgment, intellect, deterioration in social skills and language. Alzheimer's Disease is the most common casue of dementia and accounts for more than 50% of all cases.
We provide dedicated care for residents with dementia in our nursing homes. We have seperate areas for dementia residents that have secure dementia gardens with access walkways through which residents can wander safely. Our homes have been desinged to be dementia friendly. Flooring, furntiure, signage and room layout are all dementia friendly. We have numerous small sitting and dining rooms to enhance a cosy homely environment.
We do not believe in multi storey residential homes and all our homes have a maximum of two accomodation floors. We actively encourage our residents and staff to use our garden facilities.
We have also invested heavily in specialised training for our staff so as to provide the highest level of care to our resdients. All our staff including non care staff have received specially designed best practice training in dementia. For more information please discuss with the Director of Nursing.
