AnovoCare Nursing home is a new 5 Star Nursing home, located in a countryside setting, in close proximity to the Swords, Kinsealy, Portmarnock and Malahide areas of North County Dublin. The home has 89 beds all with their own en-suite bathroom facilities.

The aim of the management and staff at AnovoCare Nursing home is to meet the needs of our Residents by providing them with the highest level of person-centred care and service. In a homely atmosphere, AnovoCare provides high quality individualised care, and friendly courteous understanding, enabling our Residents to enjoy a high quality of life.

At AnovoCare we offer long-term residential nursing care, dementia care, convalescence care, and respite short stay care.

Long-term care

Our vibrant community brings an enjoyable and caring atmosphere to the next phase of life. All our residents have the right to privacy and are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. This total caring concept is planned in such a way as to encompass the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of our Residents at all times.
Our team is highly qualified and experienced and give every thought to ensuring your loved one enjoys the best care while getting the most out of every day. The excellent standards of care are underpinned by a level of warmth and compassion.

Dementia Care

At AnovoCare we have designed our home to have a frail elderly and dementia friendly environment. We provide our Residents with formal nursing care plans, help with the activities of daily living (ADL’s), and personalised care designed to offer Residents as much mental and memory stimulation as possible. All our staff have received the latest certified training in how to provide person centred care and support for our residents with dementia, ensuring they are treated with the care and support they need to live a long and fulfilled life. Therefore, we work with our Residents’ and their families to get to know them and familiarise ourselves with their past life, experiences, passions, preferences and most importantly what is important to them and their loved ones now.

Convalescent & Post Operative/Rehabilitation Care

Convalescent & Post-Operative Rehabilitative Care assists individuals with recuperation and recovery after surgery or serious illness. AnovoCare Nursing Home is well known for this service through our links with our regional acute hospitals, including Beaumount Hospital, The Mater Hospital and the community.

Respite

Respite Care is aimed at providing temporary relief to caregivers at home. AnovoCare has a strong history of providing this service in the area and with the HSE. AnovoCare Nursing Home is registered with all the major medical insurance companies including the VHI and Irish Life Health.

AnovoCare Nursing Home is located on Stockhole Lane, Cloghran in Swords, just come off the M50 motorway at the Belfast exit Northbound and head towards Dublin Airport taking the 3rd exit for Swords at the airport roundabout and then take the 2nd exit off the Cloghran Roundabout.

Accommodation

As AnovoCare is a new purpose-built 5 Star nursing home, meticulous thought has gone into its design to provide our Residents with high degrees of comfort and privacy. This exceptional modern building has its own inner courtyard and secure landscaped gardens designed to meet the needs of our residents. Our superbly finished large bedrooms are fitted with bespoke furniture, a wireless nurse call system, flat screen TV’s, private telephone, secure bedside locker for valuables and WiFi points.

All rooms are en-suite and have been designed to afford easy access and facilitate assisted showering. The majority of our rooms are single, and we also have a number of twin rooms available, all bedrooms have a view of the courtyard garden or of the surrounding countryside. Individual rooms are tastefully decorated, and Residents are encouraged to bring some of their own personal effects to AnovoCare in order to personalise their rooms.

The home has been designed as a frail elderly and dementia friendly environment including spacious bedrooms and large en-suite design, small cosy lounges and dining rooms, specialised lighting, dementia friendly signage and sensory gardens with raised flower beds and a poly tunnel

AnovoCare is set over two floors and is fully wheelchair accessible. The home is designed to provide “small group” environments and we have various lounges and dining rooms within the home. We want our Residents to benefit from a cosy and safe ambience.

Among the facilities available we have a hairdressing salon, a coffee dock, a prayer room, a visitor’s room, a magnificent activities / function room, and a comfortable welcoming entrance reception area. We also provide a full complimentary laundry service.

 

Our Care Team

The Nursing, Caring, Catering, Domestic and Administration Team at AnovoCare Nursing Home is led by our Director of Nursing, Dermot McCann who has extensive experience in the provision of both long and short-term care. Our staff are personally selected, caring, experienced and willing to cater to the individual needs of our Residents.

At AnovoCare Nursing Home we know that we distinguish ourselves through our Continuous Education Programme that our staff go through annually, so that we can continue to provide the highest levels of care. We strive to provide a Resident centred approach to our care provision and care planning. All our Staff are trained in person centred dementia care through extensive dementia care training and education.

We have our own General Practitioner onsite 4 days per week and out of hours access to a doctor from DDOC North Dublin. Residents have the freedom to keep their own GP if they so choose.

Facilities & Services

  • Full G.P. Services in place and out of hours DDOC service.
  • HSE: Dental, optical, chiropody can be accessed on request.
  • Full daily activities programme in place (see examples below).
  • Weekly clergy visits & weekly mass (Tuesdays).

 

Social Activities Keeping Active and having fun

Day to day living at AnovoCare Nursing Home is primarily about our Residents. We call it activity-based care and it’s at the heart of everything we do at AnovoCare Nursing Home. We believe a managed social activities program plays a key role in ensuring our Residents live their life to the full in their home. We invite residents to join us in AnovoCare Nursing Home where they can live and enjoy their life. We endeavour to provide a wide range of activities to cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents.

The Activities Program is run by our dedicated Activities Team and includes some of the following:

  • Exercise classes assisted by the physiotherapist
  • Siel Blue exercise therapy
  • Regular Live Musical Entertainment
  • Art Classes
  • Pet therapy
  • Gardening
  • Bingo, Board Games.
  • External Trips to local areas of interest, shopping, theatre, variety shows, trips to parks.
  • Summer Family themed party.
  • Card Games, Movies.
  • Sonas Therapy, Imagination gym.
  • Knitting club.

We have our own Coffee Dock area that can be used by all throughout the day.

Residents own mobile computer station.

Newspapers are delivered daily and free WIFI is available.

Weekly mass in large activities room (Tuesdays). Other religious preferences are facilitated.

Many of our activities create bonds between our Residents and Staff. Following assessment of our residents we will encourage personal interests and hobbies as much as possible.

Catering and Nutritional Requirements

The chefs at AnovoCare Nursing home pride themselves on producing fresh, seasonal and delicious meals every day.

Dining at AnovoCare Nursing Home is a social experience to look forward to and be enjoyed by all. Our experienced Chefs prepare menus which comprise fresh, seasonal ingredients so that every meal is not only nutritious but also looks great and tastes delicious. Meal times are also an opportunity for socialising and residents can welcome relatives or close friends to dine with them if they wish.

There is a choice available every day and the dishes we prepare reflect and include the likes and requests of our Residents as well as their nutritional needs. The chefs provide Residents with a choice of homemade dishes and freshly baked goods each day which Residents can choose to take in our dining rooms or, if they prefer, in the comfort of their own room.

All of our menus have been nutritionally analysed in order to support the promotion and delivery of healthy eating for older people, including those with Dementia and eating difficulties.

Director of Nursing

Jenny Duffy R.G.N. is the Director of Nursing at AnovoCare Nursing Home. Jenny has been a nurse for over 20 years and has specialised in care of the elderly for the last 15 years. Jenny has managed various residential care centres in Ireland and has a wealth of experience in her field. Together with her team of more than 95 staff, everyone is dedicated to the AnovoCare's goal of meeting the needs of our residents by providing them with the highest level of person-centred care and service. Jenny and the team will ensure the residents and their families receive the highest levels of care and support at AnovoCare.

Assistant Director of Nursing

Mary O'Rourke R.G.N. is the Assistant Director of Nursing at AnovoCare Nursing Home. Mary has been a nurse for 25 years. Mary has worked and managed various residential care centres in Ireland and is very experienced in her field. Mary has a pivotal role in terms of supporting Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in their provision of day to day resident care. She has the lead responsibility in the quality assurance audit program for resident service delivery.

We have a team of dedicated reception staff who provide a warm welcome to all residents, relatives and visitors to AnovoCare Nursing Home at the main reception desk or when answering the telephone and assisting residents and relatives on a daily basis. Andrea Boland and Collette Ivy are our  Administrators and Lesley Keoghan is the Accommodation Supervisor for AnovoCare Nursing Home.
